WANDA: A common ground for forensic handwriting examination and writer identification
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents the WANDA Workbench, which is an open framework for electronic data processing. The framework provides generic interfaces for 'plug-in' applications for graphical user interfaces (client desktop with client plug-ins) and processing modules (server with server plug-ins). The applied plug-in concept allows for the functional extension of the workbench without changing the framework. Moreover, for data modeling, messaging and system configuration the eXtensible Markup Language (XML) is implemented, which supports the interoperability with existing applications and allows for continuous adaptations to the evolving state of technology.

متن کاملMapping Transcripts to Handwritten Text
In the analysis and recognition of handwriting, a useful first task is to assign ground truth for words in the writing. Such an assignment is useful for various subsequent machine learning tasks for performing automatic recognition, writer verification, etc. Since automatic word segmentation and recognition can be error prone, an intermediate approach is to use a text file that is a transcripti...
متن کاملIntroducing TRIGRAPH - Trimodal writer identification
With this presentation, we want to introduce the recently started TRIGRAPH project. The aim of this project is to develop techniques that can be used for forensic writer identification, using recent advances in pattern recognition and image processing, new insights in automatically derived handwriting features, user interface development, and innovations in forensic writer identification system...
متن کاملUsing Perturbed Handwriting to Support Writer ID in the Presence of Severe Data Constraints
Usually we assume large amount of data for writer identification, what if only little data is available, e.g., 1 page, 1 paragraph, or even 1 line? Several reasonable assumptions in forensics: • The writers are no longer available. • The writers might not be collaborative. The question is then: what can we do in this situation? • Use of synthetic data has been studies in fields like: signature ...
متن کاملFeature Discretization for Individuality Representation in Twins Handwritten Identification
Problem statement: The study on twins is an important form of study in the forensic and biometrics field as twins share similar genetic traits. Handwriting is one of the common types of forensic evidence. Differentiating the similarities of writing of a pair of twins is critical in establishing the reliability of handwriting identification. Writing style can be used as biometric features in aut...
